Career Counseling & Coaching Program

UC Davis employees are offered career coaching and counseling with a tailored approach to each individual.

To start receiving structured career support, make an appointment with a certified career counselor on the UC Davis campus or a career coach on the UC Davis Health campus.

Services include:

  • One-on-one career counseling
  • Exploration of career options and goals
  • Assessments
  • Individual development plan (IDP) assistance
  • Job search coaching
  • Application materials review
  • Resume writing assistance
  • Interview coaching
  • Strategies to manage career stage transitions (early, mid, late career/retirement)

Career counseling appointments are conducted at the Hubert Heitman Staff Learning Center.


UC Davis employees are eligible for two appointments per year.

Andrea Weiss
Andrea Weiss, M.S, N.C.C., M.C.C., National Certified Counselor and Master Career Counselor, has over 20 years of experience in career counseling, executive recruitment and training.

As a career counselor she has helped hundreds of individuals by providing personalized confidential career counseling services to identify and pursue satisfying careers, manage successful career transitions and take advantage of new opportunities. In addition, she is an expert in all phases of the recruitment process, having conducted a wide range of executive recruitments for public, nonprofit and higher education clients. Andrea’s experience also includes designing and delivering employee development workshops on a variety of career and personal growth topics; she is a Master Myers-Briggs Practitioner and Workshop Facilitator.

Currently, Andrea also provides one-on-one career counseling and coaching to UC Davis staff through the Staff Development & Professional Services program. Andrea earned a master’s degree in career counseling from CSU Sacramento and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from UC Davis. She is a graduate of The Management Center’s Packard Foundation Nonprofit Executive Search Institute and has served on the board of the Child Abuse Prevention Center.

Judy Isaman
Judy Isaman is a Gallup Strengths Certified Coach, and an ICF Associate Certified Coach with over 10 years of experience providing career coaching. Her undergraduate degree is in e-business and a she holds a master’s degree in organization development.  Judy has held roles in talent development, workforce diversity, quality, operations, and marketing.  Her industry experience includes healthcare, workforce development, technology, and automotive. 

Judy was instrumental in sponsoring UC Davis Health’s Emerging Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion Award from National Fund and CareerStat.  She has also been recognized as an Intel Corporation high performing instructor, and also received an Intel WOW’EM honorable mention for her global cultural diversity awareness game, Let's Talk Business. 

Currently as Sr. Training Analyst with UC Davis Health System’s Training and Development organization, Judy facilitates our School At Work (SAW) Program, the Administrative Assistant Academy (AAA), and several other career development courses which she has developed.  

Judy and her husband enjoy the rural lifestyle in Auburn with their two dogs and a menagerie of pasture pets.  “Search for Goodness,” is the mantra Judy follows.
