Managerial Role Classifications

As defined by our CareerTracks program, each level includes these defining characteristics: 

• Manager 2 (MGR 2)
• MGR 2 positions manage activities of two or more sections or departments through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods, and employees.

• Manager 3 (MGR 3)
• MGR 3 positions manage the activities of a functional area through several unit managers within the organization having overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods, and employees.

• Manager 4 (MGR 4)
• MGR 4 positions direct and control the activities of a broad functional area through several unit managers within the organization having overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods, and employees.
