Academic Personnel Administration: Recruitment

This course is designed to help you gain a thorough understanding of the policies and resources related to academic recruitment and retention processes for Academic Senate and Academic Federation titles.

Course Description

Is your department planning to recruit for academic positions? Do you have a valuable faculty member who is being recruited by another institution that your department wants to retain? By taking this course you will better understand the purpose of academic planning in the department (including assigning resources and FTE), the responsibilities of the University of California as a Land Grant institution and public employer, and the requirements for conducting a proactive, equal employment opportunity recruitment. You will work through “best practice” approaches for recruitment and retention, view the new online application process for academic hiring “RECRUIT”, learn appropriate record-keeping, and learn how to properly complete search plans, interim, and final recruitment reports. This course also covers housing allowances, moving expenses, the Partner Opportunities Program, Target of Excellence appointments, the Work Life Balance Program, and the Mortgage Origination Program.

Note: This course is intended for staff who currently work with academic personnel matters.
