Student Loan Forgiveness Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Education announced (see fact sheet) a temporary change to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program through Oct. 31, 2022, as a result of the COVID-19 national emergency.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full-time (30+ hours weekly) for a qualifying employer, including UC Davis. Your months of employment with UC Davis may also count towards loan forgiveness.

This temporary opportunity ends Oct. 31 and allows borrowers to receive credit for payments that previously did not qualify towards loan forgiveness under the PSLF (e.g., FFEL, Perkins, or other federal student loans).

Please review the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program page on UCnet If you think you might be eligible for loan forgiveness, and actions you should take now.

$100k in Loans Paid Off

"Oxford University wasn’t cheap for grad school and I successfully had all four of my loans discharged/paid off - a total of $105,155. I’ve been working at UCD since 2004, paying my loans since 2010, and UCD has been great with helping me with the PSLF paperwork throughout." -- UC Davis Employee

Thank you for your service to UC Davis.
