Dress for Safety

Dress for Safety

Dressing for safety is a preventative approach to addressing workplace violence.

According to the CDC's Workplace Violence Prevention for Nurses, tips to dress for safety include:

  1. Wear clothing that allows for freedom of movement, but is not overly loose. Clothing that is overly loose can easily be caught.
  2. Dangling glasses, keys, or name tags can be hazardous; always use breakaway safety cords or lanyards.
  3. Avoid earrings, necklaces, or other jewelry that can be easily pulled.
  4. Long hair should be tucked away so that it can't be grabbed.
